WWF EVENT
21 November 2024, 10:30 -11:30AM (GMT +4)
COP 29, WWF Pavillion, Area/Zone E, G28, Blue Zone
The event will be livestreamed HERE
Climate change is rapidly altering the Mediterranean, Black Sea, and Caspian Sea regions, where rising temperatures, increased sea levels and coastal ecosystem degradation are posing serious threats to natural ecosystems and communities.
The good news is that the solutions to these threats are embedded within these same regions. By harnessing the power of nature-based solutions, we can boost natural ecosystems and biodiversity and reduce the risk of climate change.
WWF would like to invite you to the high-level event “A Blue Line for Nature and Climate Action” to present the new Blue Line Programme, a first large-scale nature protection and restoration initiative across the Mediterranean, Black Sea and Caspian regions that will pilot and replicate nature-based solutions to restore some of the most vulnerable ecosystems, protect biodiversity and safeguard the lives of millions of people living along these coasts.
During the side event WWF will present and discuss with scientists and policy experts the most recent data on climate risks, explore the potential of nature-based solutions (NbS) and identify the policy and financial measures needed to support their implementation.
